The name matters because it points to the market the car was built for, and that market sets the charging inlet, the software and the warranty. Ask for a photograph of the rear badge and the VIN plate together, and check both against each other before you pay a deposit.

How buying a Honda e:NS1 in Dubai for export works

A car registered in the UAE has to be cancelled before it can leave. The RTA de-registers it and issues an export certificate in place of the local registration card. If the car was financed, the bank must release it first with a No Objection Certificate, and any fines on the record must be cleared. A car that was never registered here moves on the seller's invoice and its origin papers instead.

Dubai's public network, according to its operator DEWA, offers Type 2 sockets for AC and CCS and CHAdeMO for DC, so a GB/T car arriving in the Gulf is usually the odd one out.

A GB/T car can still be charged in a CCS2 country. Adapters exist for AC, and DC adapters exist too, but they are separate products with their own power limits, and quality varies. Fitting a different inlet is another route, so price the fix in before you commit.

Warranty works the same way. Manufacturers set battery and vehicle cover by market, and it is normally tied to the country where the car was first sold. Condition counts as on any car, so look at the underside where the battery sits and ask about accident damage. Where the destination treats electric cars differently from petrol ones, the same ENS1 is worth more in one country than another, so work out your landed cost before comparing sellers.

Software, language and who can service the car

A China-market car is built around Chinese menus, voice control and connected apps. Some screens offer an English option and some do not, and navigation data may cover China only. Ask the seller to run the screen on video and show the language list, the navigation and the phone app.

Connected functions can depend on servers and accounts in the market of origin, and a car that was used by a previous owner may still be linked to that owner's account. Ask the seller to log the account out and reset the car before handover, and ask which features stop working outside the UAE.

Then ask the question most buyers leave until it is too late: will a Honda dealer or an electric-car workshop in my country service this specific car? Dealers usually support the models the brand sells in their market. A China-built electric ENS1 may not be one of them, so get an answer from a workshop in writing, and ask whether they can read faults and order parts by VIN.

Have these ready before freight is booked. The seller's invoice naming the model the same way on every document, with the VIN and the battery capacity written in.
